Diabetes sucks. It really does.
I have VERY athletic nieces and nephews who got Type 1 as young kids.

Now they are successful adults and must attend to it continuously.
Would not wish that condition on anyone.

Type 1 is genetic.

Type 2 is self inflicted by maxing out your pancreas.

Thus they deserve very different levels of sympathy.
