Selectively releasing transcripts during an ongoing investigation. How is this good again?
Sure. It's an on-and-on-and-on-and-ongoing investigation.
To answer your question, perhaps it will pressure somebody into prosecuting.
There are always downsides (some will claim it lets co-conspirators synchronize their stories), but IMHO it’s useful to get whatever Simpson claimed into the public domain, exactly as he claimed it, without filtering. Vast numbers of people can identify the lies and contradictions — or at least see where he refused to answer, as well as improve timelines and knowledge of details. Doing so creates pressure and ideas for next steps and for doing something about the ongoing coup attempt. I do not trust the FBI or Congress to actually pursue things. This process has to be nudged along by a constant revelation of small pieces.

Horse is already out of the barn. Might as well release it and the MSM will bury the story.
