“Look no further in analyzing why Chris Cristie never got close to getting the Republican nomination and why his political career is completely dead.”

Christie was responsible for identifying and vetting potential political appointees for President Trump during the campaign. His job was to have the appointees identified, qualified and ready if Mr. Trump won. Given the number of people who were appointed and left the White House during Trump’s first year, plus the fact there are still hundreds of unfilled positions waiting for nominees, Christie obviously failed miserably. No wonder Trump didn’t appoint him to a job in the administration.

I’d have thought the voters in NJ might remember the Jon Corzine experience and the missing billions.

He claims to be pro Second Amendment, but he did virtually nothing to support the Second Amendment during his tenure as governor. I would never have voted for him, even if he had become the Republican nominee in 2016.

New Jersey is a lousy place to live. Christy has really made it worse, and he continues today.

The Philly woman pardoned by Christie after being arrested carrying her licensed handgun in NJ might disagree with your assessment of Christie’s position on the Second Amendment. People have to separate the real Chris Christie from the media distortions, and they’ll see he had all the right enemies arrayed against him. He is probably the last tax-cutting pro-life governor we’ll ever see in that office here.

NJ law sucks. We all agree on that. I don’t have much sympathy for most out of state people who get trapped by NJ law.

Maybe it’s because I live in NJ but I would never think of travelling anywhere with a gun without understanding the law where I was going as much as possible. It is well known the laws in NJ suck and you will be dealt with harshly if caught. These people should have known better. They took a chance and lost. They should have left the gun at home or avoided the state.

I agree Christie is the last we will see of any leader who is even remotely conservative in the state for a long time. I plan to leave as soon as I can.

I thought the woman was foolish, but she was from PA and was licensed to have it (which was probably a key factor for Christie in pardoning her). Ignorance is no excuse (she definitely broke the law), but I’m glad he did that.

NJ laws with regards to guns do suck; Pennsylvania’s are incredibly lax as I understand it (in terms of concealed carry).

I’m in the same position I think many share - tied to NJ at least until ageing parents pass away. Christie knew this and tried to keep the state affordable (the 2% tax increase cap was a blessing after 5-7% increases); he just couldn’t do it alone.
