I’ve seen another video from a dashcam.
I don’t think that is a meteor—that looks like something got shot out of the sky.
Meteors streak in a line. This thing broke up.

You are thinking of South Haven. New Haven is on the other side of the state, near Lake St. Clair.
As do we in Cochise County, Arizona.

Many meteors break up as they enter our atmosphere. In fact most do before the reach the ground.
So the impact of the *fragments* caused the earthquake?
Yes, meteors do fragment. In fact, they burn up in the atmosphere, hence the bright firey light being emitted. And it is better for them to burn up and fall apart (fragmenting) and disintegrate in the atmosphere than having them stay in tact, get close and have a single air burst (low altitude single explosion) when they get hot enough.
The video seems to fit the event. Whether the meteor fragments or sticks together depends on several variables including material content, density, angle of attack in our atmosphere (trajectory), and speed when hitting our atmosphere. We should be glad it broke into smaller pieces and burnt up. I’m sure some fragments will be found.
Trump’s fault!
Interestingly, last night I was up late laying on my couch watching TV and at around 12:30 AM or so, I heard a low boom, more like a rumbling sound and felt a bit of a shake sort of like a big heavy truck had gone right past my house. I felt another rumble a few minutes later. I checked the USGS website when I got up this morning and nothing was reported as far as any earthquakes in my area – York PA and nothing in the local news about any explosions.
I wonder if it was a “frost quake”.

It’s been well below freezing for the last few weeks but then we had a warm up to the mid 50's followed by a rapid drop in temperature below freezing and with snow.
