Democrat Patty Schachtner won a special election for a state Senate seat in Wisconsin on Tuesday, scoring a huge upset victory for her party in a district that President Donald Trump handily captured just over a year ago.
It was the latest in a string of election victories for Democrats since Trump took office, and a sign of hope for the party that the energy from the base and frustration with the president could lead to more wins in November.
With every precinct counted, The Washington Post reported that Schachtner, the chief medical examiner for St. Croix County, won by 9 percentage points.

The RINOS have dampened enthusiasm in the last year. Hard to get the base motivated when the party doesnt support Trump.

THIS!! It’s become “why vote for the Republican they’re acting just like the other guy”
the Republican Party has not earned respect by supporting trump’s efforts to make America great again.
They either oppose, obstruct, or give luke warm support.
Somebody needs to make a list of GOP voters and knock and drag them to the polls. If the turnout for the Republican had been the same as the Democrat, he’d have won by 18k to 12k votes.
If Rove was smart, he’d help. But Rove is a Chamber of Commerce Republican. Rove’s GOP reign is over.
But Rove barely won in 2000 and 2004, there is no powerful GOP strategist anymore.
Guadagno was a terrible candidate, period.
True.
NJ GOP needs someone younger.
Guadagno was the worst NJ GOP nominee since Doug Forrester.
Keep Tokyo Rove as far away as possible. He does more to help Democrats than Republicans.
Ed Gillespie was horrible in VA.
Ken Cuccinelli as well in 2013.
Bob McDonnell destroyed the VA GOP.
How did Rove win in ‘00 and ‘04 then?
Patriots will continue to lose until President Trump figures out a way to expose how the Dems keep stealing the elections. The nation and patriots hang in the balance.
Hopefully (I know, hope is not a course of action) - but hopefully things will change for the better before the election.
The economy is likely with us - people will soon see the tax cuts in their paycheck. Black employment has hit a record.
Legislative votes could be engineered to stake out/frame positions in a new light.
Crisis could cause a rallying effect (hope not).
Or scandal could envelop the Democrats, and discourage their base. It looks possible that their domestic spying abuse will be exposed, as well as corruption, and possibly treason.
Forrester performed better in 2005 than Guadagno did, actually (he was 15k short of 1 million votes, she got just 899k). She tied with Bret Schundler in 2001 with under 42% (although even Schundler got 29k more votes than she), but Schundler was deliberately kneecapped by the corrupt RINO Establishment under Whitman-DiFrancesco. At least it wasn’t as bad as Congressman Jim Courter in 1989 against Flim Flam Florio when he got just 37% and 839k votes.
As we saw in Alabama, the RINOs are happy to campaign to suppress the conservative vote. That only benefits the progressive agenda and Democrats. I expect that trend to continue as RINOs like Kasich and Romney continue their campaign to depress GOP turn out, handcuff MAGA and enable progressive Democrats.
And they may be doing that - They (the Alabama and Washington DC GROPelites) certainly DID get the word out AGAINST Judge Moore in Alabama.
Ken almost beat slimeball McAwful. He came a lot closer to winning than Gillespie did. If the establishment had helped Ken he would have won, but Ken was too conservative for them.
What three did we win???
Cuccinelli was partly screwed by a 3rd party Libertarian who was a Democrat agent trying to get GOP votes. Remember that McAwful failed to get a majority of the vote in 2013. The NoVA Deep Staters have helped to turn the state to a nice shade of Communist Red.
By lying to conservatives
He almost managed to help snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. If it wasn’t for the inherent unpopularity of Manbearpig here in Tennessee, Dubya would’ve lost even winning Florida. Dubya should’ve equally blown away Lurch in 2004 and didn’t. Rove’s angle to win was filling up the GOP with loser RINOs across the board, and look where that got the party. Smashing defeats in 2006 and the coup de grace of 2008. Like I said, he didn’t win by hard work, he won by accident, and that wasn’t saying much.
We haven’t had a balls to the walls guy in charge of the party/campaign apparatus since Lee Atwater. Had Atwater lived to the 1992 campaign, he’d have fileted the Clintons and would’ve made mincemeat of the jug-eared jackass Mohammadan Marxist.
The Republicans held a 2 to 1 majority in the House of Delegates until the recent election and only retained the majority because they (correctly) convinced a court that a single disputed ballot was an intended vote for the Republican and then won a drawing to break the resulting tie. A good conservative who had won six times in his conservative district was beaten by a tranny. These are not one-offs, but signs of highly motivated Dims and complacent Republicans.
