Um...because they’re funding poverty. They’re making it a viable lifestyle choice.
Per another thread, I figured CA is spending about $20/day on “the poor”. Now that’s “spending”, which may be filtered/skimmed thru assorted services.
But between that, federal & city “entitlements”, charity, and any other way of eliciting a buck, someone could acquire about $20/day.
I can cook pretty decently for $1/meal.
In a really temperate climate like the CA coast, and the lack of legal discouragements to homelessness, plus no dependents, one could get by pretty well on $20/day.
