Fahrenheit 451 was written by American Author Ray Bradbury and was set in an American city although the film was shot in England. 1984 was written by George Orwell and was set in London, the capitol of Oceania. The chase scene you are thinking of is from THX1138 by George Lucas and was filmed in and around the San Francisco area. Figured I got it wrong. Oops.

Yeah I knew Ray Bradbury was an American but messed up on the rest. I was flipping channels at the time.

Yes, and someone took this throwaway idea of Lucas’s and made a whole series out of it called Robo-Cops.
