Ask your brother the doctor about blood pH. It stays between 7.35 and 7.45. A little more or less and you die. You can’t do much about increasing it and stay alive, contrary to the food pH adjustment fad of recent times. Your brother will agree (or he is a chiropractor and not a real doctor).
Heard that in my very first anatomy class. The ER is all about getting pH back into range.
