I still give Donald Trump excellent kudos for his ability to bargain. Because he understands where the opposition is, and if he can paint it into a corner — if he can get a wall while letting DACA be, and robbing it of a bloody shirt — then we will be in a far better place than the purists who want to take their marbles and go home would take us to.
Those “purists” have seen the movie before. Sure, we’ll compromise. And you nice Democrats will compromise, too, right? Here, we’ll go first.
