AUBURN, Calif. (WCMH) Members of a California community are upset after their homeowners association told them they need to keep their garage doors open during the day.
A list left with homeowners in the Auburn Greens subdivision is giving many residents a cause for concern. It mandates leaving garage doors up from 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, KTXL reported.
Residents who fail to keep their garage door up face a $200 fine and an administrative hearing.
I have nothing to hide. I understand that somebody had someone living in the garage. I dont, said Shelly Ia. I am following the rules. All I am asking is a reasonable way of going around this. If you want to do a monthly, bi-monthly inspection of my garage, I have nothing to hide. If I have something stored in there and you dont like it, Ill remove it.

1) Move out of HOA...esp. in CA.
2) Contact Fire Department...they could probably stop this.
Call cops and report things stolen OFTEN...or even "suspicious person" call. The callouts will generate more bad numbers for area
4) Contact insurance carriers. THOSE guys have ALOT of money, HOAs don't. They could shake down the HOA easily....and would probably start a class action law suit.
My neighbors have converted their garage into living space and have between 5-7 cars outside every evening. I sure wish our HOA would do something but they HOA rules don’t give them the same say. HOAs can be good, can be bad. They do serve a purpose if not misused.

You forgot to give us homework!"
What the coverage in this doesnt make clear is that this is a vast section 8 housing development. I used to live less than 5 miles away. Its the very epicenter of criminal activity in a very much law and order community. The notion that youd require the doors to be left open in a high crime area is beyond nuts
Public housing with garages? Oh, what the heck, California can afford it. /s
Doesn’t this belong in a satire? It can’t be for real. Is it?
I’m otherwise speechless at the absurdity and spinelessness of this.
If I had a garage in this area I’d brick it up before I moved out.
Democrats who don't store tools in their garages...or anything else of value. First family robbed should sue the HOA...
To each his/her own.
I value freedom above most anything. If someone buys a home with his money, he can paint the doors pink or any other color he darn well chooses.
Freedom. It’s a wonderful thing.
There are several types of garage door that can bee seen through, such as glass ones or the bar/chain type if you don’t need the garage to be heated and cooled.
“Cousin had a house in an HOA. Replaced his door. Got served a notice demanding he buy an approved door from someone on the HOAs brother.”
Sounds about right.
Buddy lives in an HOA neighborhood and said the board member who did the maintenance inspections used to leave his business card with a list of the violations.
His business? Home repairs, general contracting.
He also used to inspect flower beds for weeds every Friday afternoon, just before owners could do weekend yard work. $50 fine.
He said the owners voted him off the board next cycle.
Duplexes and triplexes, mostly.
What could go wrong..
Thank you, I was just about to ask that.
Just like you do here.
Bless your heart.
Superb!
Super-perv!
I’m suing HOA because the thieves got hurt in my open door garage...Not my fault.....You wanted the door open,I complied, they came to steal and now HOA owes me 100,000....
Will the HOA compensate the owners at MARKET VALUE for anything that is stolen?
Could have big sign in the garage.....ATTENTION THIEVES...IF YOU GET HURT,SUE HOA FOR MILLIONS...
Hoa: this finger is pointing out the error of your ways...
The attitude that earned you the hate seeps through on here.
