Apology NOT accepted! White House says 'the man has lost his mind, and good riddance' after 'Sloppy' Steve Bannon claims he was not talking about Don Jr when he slammed 'treasonous' Trump Tower meeting

On Sunday, Steve Bannon released statements to Axios apologizing to President Trump and Donald Trump Jr

'I regret that my delay in responding to the inaccurate reporting regarding Don Jr has diverted attention from the president's historical accomplishments'

He explained that when he labeled the Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous' he was criticizing Paul Manafort, who should have known better

Donald Trump Jr, Bannon said, 'is both a patriot and a good man,' as he complimented the president for his political savvy

Bannon also played up his longtime loyalty, claiming, 'I am the only person to date to conduct a global effort to preach the message of Trump and Trumpism'

White House said Monday that there's not any conceivable 'way back' into Donald Trump's good graces for Bannon after the book revelations

The White House rejected an apology from Steve Bannon, the president's former chief strategist, on Monday, saying there's not any conceivable 'way back' into Donald Trump's good graces for him.

Bannon apologized to President Trump and his son, Donald Trump Jr, on Sunday, for slamming a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting that's come under scrutiny from the feds as 'treasonous.' Raj Shah, the top deputy White House press secretary, said on Monday, though, that on Fox News that President Trump's opinion 'hasn't changed' since Bannon's statement.

'Frankly, look, the president said it, the man has lost his mind, and good riddance,' Shah proclaimed.

>Bannon didn’t just make a mistake, he was A LEAKER, and stayed on the phone with reporters from NYT and other leftist outlets.

Yep. Worse he made up stuff to leak just because he was pissed off for losing his job.

The continued fear and loathing of Mr. Bannon proves he is the man to be feared. It’s not him doing it. You all are doing that. After a while all/any publicity is good publicity.

Bannon was the guy who brought Wolff into the White House. If it weren’t for Bannon there would not have been a book by this snake. Bannon was either shockingly stupid or spiteful to do it. This mess is entirely Bannon’s and I would want nothing more to do with him if I were the President.

Well, that was a crappy apology, but hopefully he will stay inside the GOP tent p*ssing out rather than going outside of that tent p*ssing in, in the immortal words of LBJ.

Ummm, not really feared.

More like total (meaning total) loss of trust (although I never trusted him very highly), and pity (he's got nothing, going forward.)

Hey it’s the Moderately Moderate moderate!

What is conservative about biting your boss' hand and giving interviews trashing Trump to media whack-jobs?

Bannon was given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help Trump advance his agenda and he pissed it away. Probably on cases of warm Pabst Beer.

LOLOLOLOL.

Bannon crashed and burned. He's done. Toast. Finis.

Who's gonna book him for anything? You?

“Honestly, Bannon looks like someone who needs a 12 step program, like yesterday.”

Yes he does. If he drinks, he should stop.

Um, we will see. If the Republicans want to win in ‘18 we need fresh MAGA candidates and Trump already caved in that area. So you better hope Bannon gets his mojo back. If not him who? ‘18 WILL be a bloodbath for the Globalist Oligarch Party(GOP) if they run their string of RINO retreads. What will the incumbents run on? “I obstructed Trump’s agenda every step of the way because I’m a good free trader globalist McConnell butt boy” Yeah that’s a winning strategy....

At the AA meetings. That’ll be the size of it.

The fact that Bannon lives in everyone’s head 7 x 24 is proof of his potential. He needs to clean his act up but frankly I would have thought all of this would have died down by now. He is being elevated by all the attention.

McConnel is still Mitch the Senate, Bannon is now ‘sloppy Steve’... all of Steve's own doing. Bannon thought himself to be an untouchable oligarch.. and for appearances sake, now looks like a backstabbing traitor.

Trump will give a second chance after a mistake or mess up, but not for disloyalty. Bannon is the epitome of disloyalty.

Really? I love Trump and his agenda but he surrounded himself with swamp creatures from day one. There are no economic nationalists left on the national stage.

Do not blame the President. Bannon turned out to be a Bannonist, instead of a nationalist.

I think Bannon is a zealot but true to his convictions. He made terrible terrible mistakes and needs to clean up his act. But where does that leave us nationalists? The GOP is going to pour money into the primaries and we will get stuck with Gillespie type candidates everywhere and get smoked badly.

“I think Bannon is sincere. I don’t really think he meant to screw up so bad. But he did. And he apologized. But with a man like Trump - you don’t get a second chance.”

how is it that Sessions gets away with the screw ups he’s committed by his recusals, and stating that he wouldn’t go after Hilliary, and that he would allow Rosenstein to investigate himself? it seems to me that Trump is allowing himself to be played by the MSM trumpeting Wolff’s made up fiction in order to separate Trump from his strongest supporters. i just don’t understand it?

It really looks as if Bannon’s plan was to take down the Trump presidency—burn it to the ground. He held off with his apology while he gauged whether Trump would survive the Wolff book or not. When it began to appear that Trump would persevere, Bannon offered his belated ‘apology.’ Small wonder it was rejected.

You really have to wonder about Bannon’s judgment. What was he doing in the first place associating with and placing trust in any reporter, least of which a sleaze ball Hollywood gossip peddler and then blabbering out all sorts of salacious remarks? Did he really believe that Wolff's book was going to bring down the President? I heard that when Wolff was in the WH, it was in Bannon’s office where he hung out. Crazy. It strikes me that he revels in being a wreaking ball. The ball swung back this time and whacked him a good one.

“The current power structure of the two major parties only serves the interests of about 25% of the country. The other 75% has no representation and has already rejected globalism. Trump’s election proved that. All Bannon has to do is give speeches about economic nationalism and all the rust belt will listen and get it. He will get large crowds by default. I am not saying Bannon is special or defending what happened but he is the only one that is doing that. As imperfect as he is, Bannon is the only one. Republicans are globalists and hate Bannon.”

amen.
