Also the plantation belt of Mississippi and Alabama and Louisiana had many temples due to mostly Sephardic Jews many of whom owned same plantations as Methodist or Episcopalians

These synagogues are often surfvivimg but unattended given the post bellum diaspora of Jews from the south
