Sorry to say but most would bring Californication with them.
They get to their new homes and are happy with lower taxes, less regulation, etc.......for about a year. Then their inner liberal rises to the surface.
Soon you have what has happened to Virginia.
I have seen it play out here and it is never pretty.
Oregon is burdened with retirees from southern Ca. They have messed up the agrarian politics of the state.
