Donald Trump’s Biggest Fear: A Romney 2020 Primary Challenge
National Interest ^ | January 8, 2017 | Jacob Heilbrunn

Posted on 01/03/2018 7:52:40 AM PST by C19fan

With Sen. Orrin Hatch’s announcement that he will not run again in 2018, Mitt Romney is on the verge of gaining his revenge against President Donald Trump. Until now, the Republican establishment has lacked a figurehead behind which it could mobilize against Trump. If Romney runs for Hatch’s position, he will be poised to challenge Trump in the 2020 Republican primary and to seek to rejuvenate the GOP establishment. Having failed twice, he may believe that the third time is the charm in running for the presidency.

President Trump does what is right for the USA, not himself. I have rarely seen that before and certainly not for many years.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Once and for all we have to chase the Romneybots out and welcome in those who love the country but cannot stomach Romney stench.

Trump won his race. A retread of a LOSER LOSER LOSER by the ONLY Republican who could not credibly oppose Obamacare is welcomed by me. Trump plays off clowns like this. Maybe Sasse could run, too! Bring ‘em on!

I should also say, I’m ok losing this seat if it means keeping Mittens out. Go hard at him in the primary and if he wins stay home or choose the moderate Dem (Do those still exists?)

Romney has the money but not the intellect to be a Senator.

Other than a bunch of Utah voters, who, exactly, does Romney expect to vote for him over Trump in the Republican Primaries? And note that it won’t be the Democrats, as they’ll be immersed in their own Primary, likely not rigged this time, either.

Romney got nuked for “binders full of women”. Trump eats binders full of women for breakfast and tells the media to go to hell if they rail about it.

One good thing about Romney’s surplus testosterone in this case - he will forced to at least act conservative to have any remote chance of putting up a fight against Trump in 2020. That means that he WILL have to vote for Trump’s judges, and that really is all that matters for the next 3 years.

Putting Romney forward as a candidate has to be one of the worst ideas the RNC ever came up with. Trying to get evangelicals to vote for a Mormon and someone who could not/would not run against the very unpopular ObamaCare was an absurdity. What were they thinking?

Go for it.

Willard was a terrible candidate, a cheese-eating surrender monkey when it came to confronting Bath House Barry. Trump will destroy Willard if he tries to run.

A liberal, an imposter, a bishop, and a carpetbagger

The bartender says, “Hi Willard”.

If Trump has 4 Winning years he may decide to go back to his private billionaire life.
In that case Romney would have to beat out Mike Pence.
Not going to happen.
