Consider the voting base, and the kind of factoids that stick in their heads at election time.
Yes, a deep, nuanced, Foreign Policy-esque discussion of aviation safety might be more appropriate coming from the President of an ideal nation, but Trump knows his audience. He's just doing what the Democrats have done to us for decades - jump on every tidbit of good news and take credit for it while the opposition hems and haws about details.
Obama had seven years without an aviation fatality. When did they give him credit for that?
