HOUSTON - A man has been arrested on multiple charges after police located a small arsenal of guns on the top floor of the Hyatt Regency on Louisiana Street downtown, Houston police said.
Police at the hotel called for backup around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after they attempted to arrest the man for being intoxicated and trespassing. When help arrived, police noticed ammunition laying around the man's hotel room, Lt. Gordon Macintosh with Houston police said.
The man was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and trespassing. When investigators looked into his room further, they located an AR-15, a shotgun, a handgun and lots of ammunition, Macintosh said.
The Hyatt is preparing its own New Years Eve celebration at the hotel with a 50,000 balloon drop at the stroke of midnight, its website said.

HOUSTON, Texas - Police say Russell Ziemba, 49, was the man arrested inside the Hyatt Regency Downtown.
So no drinking in a house with guns?
I didn’t say that.
Licensed carry in a bar is illegal in Texas.
Called the "51% rule" - If the establishment makes more 51% of their income from alcohol consumed on the premises (as opposed to a liqueur store where the rule does not apply), then carrying is now allowed.
“then carrying is now allowed. “

It is?
.
and 2) there was one on him rather than in his room.
Neither of which is mentioned.

Good question and it isn’t clear. Somewhere I read he was
there for a 3-gun shoot. Thus the reason he had those guns
with him. There was one schedule for early Dec. but was
cancelled. You think he’d let the hotel know that he had
guns in his room.
So what laws would you like to see?
I’m for common sense, but cops seem to love going to far.
I believe we have a winner. Not just plausible, but probable.
Fing fake-news media scum couldn’t tell the truth with a gun to their heads. Which could be why they’re so anti gun: they’re afraid someone will put a gun to their heads and demand they tell the truth.
I wouldn't. It would be a good way to get them stolen.
Like I said - similar to DUI/DWI. Probable cause to investigate, evidence to convict, and a jail term for guilt.
Crap.
Now = Not!
In a home? Or only in the car?
That was one of those funny errors that changes the entire meaning of the post-——and I’ve made quite a few of them.
.
Guy in town, checked into hotel with three guns and some ammo--maybe for gun show or 3-gun competition.
Okay, did I miss something here?
yes
guns in hotel room = Las Vegas masscre
This guy was going to attend a gun show at the George R. Brown convention center and didn’t want to leave his weapons in the truck for fear of losing them to some thug.
Because the media is spoiling for blood and guts stories, they jump at the chance to report...arsenal, arsenal...oh my, there was to be a NYE celebration below...he had an arsenal.
Good grief.
Same here. Good assessment. I usually just travel with a handgun, but once upon a time about 20 years ago, I was buying a BMW bike 3 states away. The guy wanted cash only which was fine, but then he requested that I meet him at a warehouse to pick up the bike. My cousin went with me, When i asked my cousin to go on the trip and explained the details he said ok. When I picked him up, I asked if he was armed—he had a pistol on his ankle and one in his coat. We never had a problem and the 10K cash bought a very fine 1150RT.
Like Abdulmutallallallallallab.
If you are drunk enough to give the cops probable cause while you are in your house, under my rules you better have your guns locked up.
Think it through - should someone really have a gun handy when they are interacting with a cop while impaired by alcohol?
If a cop mistakenly knocks on my door instead of my neighbors, and I have an unlocked handgun in my night stand, you better believe it should be legal. You’re inviting a whole heap of infringements otherwise.
