If the only communication allowed within Iran is that which is government controlled, and the only story shared outside of that dictatorship is that which is government controlled, then the only story that will be told is what the MSM and the Iranian government wants told.

Remember it is only now that we have discovered how many Chinese were killed during and following Tienanmen Square Massacre.

How many Iranians died or were imprisoned in 20009?

The Iranian government cut off access to twitter and the Internet and once no communication with the outside world ceased, they were able to suppress the protests.

In 2010 it was announced that more than 12 million Iranians have been organized into the paramilitary Bassij, Maybe this time the protesters have figured out to knock the demons off their motorcycles.

“In 2010 it was announced that more than 12 million Iranians have been organized into the paramilitary Bassij”

Sounds unlikely, in a country of 80 million. They were probably exaggerating to scare their people. Iran’s GDP is equivalent to Alabama’s, and they are funding a nuclear program, wars in Syria, Iraq and Yemen; and widespread corruption in Government (which runs more than half of their economy).

Also, when the tipping point comes, members of the security forces start joining the other side. The regular military (not the Republican Guards or Bassij) and police will be big bellwethers of which way the wind is blowing. So will desertions from the Bassij or Pasdaran (Republican Guards).

Remember when the Soviet military (much bigger and badder than their Iranian counterparts) was called out to defend communism, but refused to fire, and Boris Yeltsin got up on a tank to speak with a bullhorn? Magic moments...
