Then you must have the figures showing how many times a year cops knock on someone’s door and how many times they shoot the person in the home.

The odds are nonzero. That’s high enough to give me pause, to make me think carefully before I act.

Same goes at a traffic stop. The chances that I, an innocent motorist, will be shot by the traffic cop is low. But it is not zero. So i will think carefully before I act. For example, I will not reach into my glove compartment unless I get permission from the cop.

And a person reaching into his glove compartment should not be at risk for getting shot. But that risk is there. it is not zero. Case in point:
