The “betters” in this case might not even wear a blue suit at all.

More likely pinstripe in public, a thobe in private.

> For heaven’s sake your chances of getting killed by a cop are far less than your chances of getting killed in an automobile accident. <

True, in general. But if a bunch of cops come knocking at my door, then the odds change. And that’s the situation I described.

The odds of getting shot are still quite low. But they are high enough that it should give any reasonable person pause. Get that knock on the door, and you had better plan your next moves carefully. That’s just common sense these days.

The officer who gratified himself should be charged at least with reckless manslaughter. The swatter should be charged with felony murder. Neither would, however be convicted. The swatter will get off as a prankster whose prank went wrong. The officer only has to say he feared for his safety (not even “feared for his life,” anymore) and no jury will convict. Americans, or enough of them to pollute almost all juries) are perfectly happy with the notion that police have the right and duty to kill when they are able to say the magic words, “I feared for my safety. “

Other articles are reporting that the SWATTER gave the wrong address to the police.

Nope. They caught him because he bragged about making the call online and on twitter. Then he did a podcast with a youtube celebrity in which he admitted to making the call, but said he wasn’t responsible because he didn’t pull the trigger and wasn’t SWAT. He handed himself to the cops, pretty much...

“So, do you think pizza delivery drivers should have a licence to kill whenever tthey claim they “feel threatened”?

Nope,and I don’t think cops should either.

The absolute hysteria on FR when it DOES happen is what annoys me-——it happens, but it is rare.

When a cop does NOT kill an innocent civilian you never read about it in the news.

"the officer on the north side fired one round."

The "No Plaintiff in a Wheelchair Rule" requires the police to volley fire in unison after the first shot. Because that didn't happen this had to be a mistake shot.

I know we’re mad at the cop who shot, but not everyone acts in full freedom of action. Baleful influences can commandeer aspects of a soul. We ought to be madder at the folks who imposed something subhuman — yes, subhuman — on police forces.

I'm more sad than mad.

He acted as trained.

I'm VERY mad at the people who forced that training regimen on his, and your and my local departments.

It could very reasonably be regarded as an act of war.

Then you must have the figures showing how many times a year cops knock on someone’s door and how many times they shoot the person in the home.

What are they?

Again this is secular lefties. We use the shorthand “liberal” for that, but it is a label that that crowd stole. It’s like relegating the word “gay” to homosexuals. If I told you that I was gay at the Christmas party, it shouldn’t mean that I was a horndog to another man. Now, “liberal” means just this kind of reckless conduct, because of a one-sided forced answer to a many-sided problem. I am quite mad at these “liberals.”

Nothing like every cop firing in unison to provide the psychological need to defend the shoot...

Absolutely concur, Leaning Right. If a bunch of police officers knock on my door, I would instantly call 9-1-1 from my landline to report what I was seeing on my doorstep and ask WHY they are there.

“I have wondered the same thing. I have decided that I will call 911 to verify police presence first, then negotiate the situation over the phone. Not going to take chances with my family”

well tell that to Justine damond-!— ok- sorry for being so sarcastic-

She CALLS to REPORT a possible assault- goes out in her NIGHT clothes to tell the officers what is going on- the cop SHOOTS her from inside the Vehicle !!

Cop refuses to cooperate- months later still no charges!!

Welcome to the New America

I suspect that what happened is the Swatter got the wrong address (which makes it even worse.)

The odds are nonzero. That’s high enough to give me pause, to make me think carefully before I act.

Same goes at a traffic stop. The chances that I, an innocent motorist, will be shot by the traffic cop is low. But it is not zero. So i will think carefully before I act. For example, I will not reach into my glove compartment unless I get permission from the cop.

And a person reaching into his glove compartment should not be at risk for getting shot. But that risk is there. it is not zero. Case in point:

To be fair, Justine was shot by a triple protected class, a muslim, a somali and a cop. That’s as hard to beat as 4 aces...
