Always Happy Holidays. This year, Merry Christmas more so.

People need to face it, it’s Christmastime, always has been. Not Hanukkah or any other holiday. The majority in this Country celebrate Christmas. The majority is shrinking but it’s still Christmas. In K-12 schools, it’s Christmas Break not Winter Break, no matter how much they want to say otherwise. Don’t have the “winter break” over Christmas then. The “holiday” break...what holiday would that be again? Christmas.

I had to laugh, we spent two days discussing Hanukkah and the Menorah for one kid in the class, but can’t mention Christmas or Christ for the other 20 kids in the class. We have treats and parties and gifts for “winter break” lmao.

Instead of decorating my classroom door for Christmas myself I let my students do it this year. I ran off copies of a dozen or so Christmas coloring pages and let them choose whichever one they wanted. The pages were mounted on red or green construction paper and then put on our door outside and the wall around it. I was happy to note that all of the pages with the nativity scene were chosen...way more than snowmen or gingerbread men. (I think Santa was chosen the most, but the nativity scene wasn’t too far behind.) Anyway, I LOVED having the nativity scene decorating my door for all passersby to see!
