Too many incidents of shelters picking up strays, monitoring them for a time, then adopting them out. Big money in recycling thug dogs.

The shelters are raining pitbull/mixes because those are the ones either rejected by their owners (for good reason), or they are wandering loose (IOW there’s an irresponible owner somewhere).

And while a lot of people lie or are oblivious to their dog’s aggressive tendencies, I truly believe that many also are speaking the truth, that their dog never showed any aggression whatsoever, sweet as pie. Until it mauled their toddler to death.

No thanks.

In the 80s, our friends had a pit bull. Back then, they were just ‘normal’ dogs...even cuddly (Remember Spuds Mckenzie). So this was before it was discovered how well adapted they were to be trained to fight and kill. But still, one day this dog we had been around for years and were very familiar with just snapped and attacked my brother. Even a docile pitbull has an inner aggressiveness that can come bubbling to the top.
