The homeless are quite a jolly race.

Yesterday, outside of the grocery store, there was this guy in a wheelchair with a stub for a leg. As I walked past him he greeted me enthusiastically. I responded, "Hello my good man." He then gave me a fist bump which I cheerily returned.

As I continued on, I had the same amount of money in my pocket as I had before.

The moral of the story is this. The human race can live in harmony with the homeless race.

I look forward to a brighter future.

The problem today is that it is impossible to know who are truly needy and those who just don’t want to work, spend money foolishly, or are playing the system. One doesn’t mind helping someone in need or truly down on their luck. Supporting someone who is just lazy or milking the system is something else.

A good “homeless” man can make $60-$80,000 tax free dollars in addition to pulling in government benefits. They sometimes fight for their “spot”. I had a friend who got a call from his “homeless” friend who was pulling in $120,000 in New York City and living in a high rise. That is, until the IRS called him up one day and wanted to know why he was living in such a nice building if he wasn’t working. In my own extended family we have people who could work but simply choose to live on the government dime.

Don’t feel too sorry for them. That “homeless man” may be living better than you. I and some of my more productive relatives have seen it happen.
