Obamacare was just a redistribution of WORKING FOLKS money....another welfare program. “”
I’ve been trying to tell people that for years. It was the largest welfare increase since the 60s. If the government was serious about helping people with their healthcare all they had to do was allow the deduction of all expenses, or better yet, allow tax credits. But, the goal was and is for the DC lawyers and politicians to takeover a huge industry and use the money for their benefit and the benefit of welfare voters.
Obamacare was just a mass sign up....and another money grab from WORKING FOLKS.
Some things still to be done are employer mandate...revise it BACK to 40 hours as a normal work week and 100 employees which is what it originally was.
Our family on both sides has been blessed by God with amazingly good health until we get into our sixties.
Our adult offspring/nieces & nephews and grandkids/grand nieces and nephews basically get a mild cold/virus and seasonal allergies. Which are managed by simple OTC meds.
If injured, a simple suture or OTC pain pills work.
Even their vision stays 20/10 into their early 50's, and a few need OTC reading glasses.
Even when they need a doctor, rarely, they go to a walkin in clinic and make a cash deal for treatment.
Thanks to Obozo care, they have been saddled with big payments to care for those who often destroy their good health daily with their self destructive habits.
Now, they can opt out!
Thanks for posting this link. Some freepers posted something similar a year or so ago. Some of our younger relative running their own business got into these plans.
Non-Obamacare Health Insurance Plans: Myth vs. Fact
Date: February 01, 2017
If you’re still searching for health insurance outside of the open enrollment period, a non-Obamacare plan could provide the coverage you need.
Its no secret that the Affordable Care Act, Obamacare, is driving up the cost of health insurance. But forgoing insurance is not a good option. So what can you do to potentially save money and still have good coverage?
Many people are turning to non-Obamacare plans, also known as Term Medical plans. Theres a lot of misinformation floating around about this kind of insurance, so were here to clear it up.
First, lets quickly cover what exactly these plans are. Some of the features include:
Greater savings through PPO plans with lower deductibles and out-of-pocket costs.
Available for up to one year:
Access to more doctors, office visits, hospital stays, and surgeries.
Real medical insurance with up to $2 million in lifetime benefits.
After the price of Obamacare compliant insurance began to increase dramatically, my wife and I joined a “healthcare ministry” which was exempt from the Obamacare penalty. With the penalty now going away we will be switching to a “catastrophic plan” which protects our assets in case one of us ends up with an expensive medical problem and use our IRS approved “healthcare savings plan” for routine medical expenses. This is something that President Trump talked a great deal about during the campaign. This is by far the best option for us. Obamacare completely screwed up our situation.
There are so many misperceptions about health insurance that have been promoted by the media, government officials and politicians. Health insurance does not make anyone any healthier. It has been shown repeatedly in studies that people who choose not to purchase health insurance tend to be healthier than people who have health insurance. The purpose of any kind of insurance is to protect your assets in case of an unforeseen expense or disaster... like when your house burns down, or you bash into something with your car.
People without money in this country have all sorts of options when they have medical needs. No one is refused treatment when they call 911 based on their ability to pay. If you do not have health insurance that covers your expenses but have assets after you receive medical treatment the providers will insist you pay them. If you do not have assets either the government will pay the provider or the expense will be written off and everyone else will pay more for their services to cover for the deadbeats.
We had one chronic 911 abuser in our community who ran up over $2.4 million dollars in medical expenses. He was never denied medical treatment even one time that I am aware of. And instead of berating this clown who I personally responded to sometimes dozens of times a month our local editorial decided he was a story “that offered hope to those who hit rock bottom”.
Thanks for your excellent reply and realities.
Is that healthcare savings plan, the yearly plan that used to be around? If so, we might get it for dental payments.
They offered to put $500 a month into an IRS approved health savings account until we reach medicare age. We have a number of mutual funds to chose to put the money in. I still have a few more years of this left. It is not taxed when they put it in and it is not taxed when you use it for a legitimate expense.
I also had been paying approximately $150 a month into a union fund for over ten years that was suppose to help pay for our health insurance after I retired. This fund now provides approximately $180 a month that I can use for health-care related expenses. However if we do not use the funds every month... they just go away. We have been using this money to pay for a dental and a vision plan both which have little value to us.
In the future we will use the union plan to pay for our “catastrophic” health insurance plan and use the health savings plan money for routine medical expenses.
Thanks for sharing.
We are in our late 70’s and we went to Kaiser for our health care. My company’s retirement program and SS pays for our monthly costs. Then we have a small co pay for other services. So our medical needs big or small are covered.
Dental is not covered. Years ago when both of us were employed we had yearly health savings programs that really helped. We need to see if there are similar programs.
One adult son has a flat $3,000 per year dental plan. On my advice he negotiated a flat $250/month payment plan with his dentist/our dentists for anything and everything dental.
My wife has a chipped tooth and she will be seeing an endo today. She has started negotiations by saying no dental plans, and we will pay cash for any deal. So far that seems to be working.
its still costing taxpayers a fortune so it is not repealed. at least some dont have to subsidize others directly now, but the cost reduction plans are still in effect, adding to the deficit.
exactly DD. the worthless do-nothing congress, that voted to repeal obamacare dozens of times, are keeping it alive and well
Don’t think so, in that sense. You can only sign up once a year (before ACA, you could get insurance any time you wanted, so far as I can tell).
But when you sign up, they can’t charge you more if you are sick.
