IMO, the Founders failed to give the Congress armed muscle to go after traitors in the executive branch. Congress must rely on the Executive branch to carry out arrests. If the Executive branch is rotten, Congress has few options to tame the executive. Not good.
The Founders gave Congress the power of the purse. That should be the ultimate power.
The Founders could not imagine the Republic surviving at all with such feckless members of Congress put there by feckless voters.
