DENVER (AP) — Denver authorities shut down 26 legal marijuana businesses Thursday and arrested 12 people suspected of illegal distribution of pot after a yearlong criminal investigation.

Potential charges relate to marijuana sales exceeding limits set in state law, police said. Colorado allows people 21 and older to possess an ounce or less of marijuana under a measure approved by voters in 2012.

The city department that regulates marijuana businesses issued the order to close the businesses based on the police investigation, spokesman Dan Rowland said. It marked the first time the city has issued an open-ended suspension to any legal marijuana business since sales began in 2014, he said.

So the city waits three years and a police investigation before they shutter businesses for selling too much pot to an individual, or an underage kid?

It sure looks like someone in the city administration got embarrassed (sold too much to a council member's kid?) or didn't get their cut.

Look at restaurants anywhere in the country. Do you really believe that 100 score they got from the city health dept?

I’d say the chances for conviction are pretty high.

Pot is the most selectively bred plant on the planet.

New strains are being created constantly.

There are now strains that have no THC. That is, zero THC. None. Nada.

What do the anti-pot folks say to that?

Do they still seek to control the plant? After all, the thing they hate about it no longer is in it.

If they want that type of pot to be illegal, then they must also approve of making lavender illegal.

Why? Because the thing in lavender that gives it its relaxing, mellowing properties is the EXACT SAME INGREDIENT in pot that gives it its relaxing, mellowing properties.

It is called Linalool. It is in the class of chemicals called terpenes.

No legislature has yet legalized pot. It has all been by ballot initiative. Politicians are dragging their feet against the will of the people on this issue.

Do you really think anyone smokes dope not to get stoned? Marijuana without delta 9 THC? You have had a few too many tokes it seems.

Lots of folks use pot to treat their muscle spasms and epilepsy.

Lots of folks use it to treat cramps like Restless Leg.

Many parents use it to treat maladies in their children but don’t want the THC.

So yeah, lots of folks use it who do not necessarily seek to get “high”.
