“Republicans, without a single shred of evidence that ANY of the accusations against Moore were true, scrambled to get out in front of the mob calling for his head, preening self-righteously as they did so.”

They did that the same day the accusations were made public.

The only way McConnell and his stooges could act that quickly is if they were involved in making the accusations.

All the Mooore incident reveals is that which is well known

Conservatives lack the raw political power to prevail. By pushing their luck, they got a Left winger elected to the Senate

Yet, against almost insurmountable odds, he only lost by two percent.

Oh, c’mon. This was supposed to say the safest Republican seat in the Senate. Yet somehow Roy Moore managed to get 150,000 fewer votes than Jeff Sessions did in 2014 -when Sessions ran unopposed!

There’s no way to spin this as anything other than a disaster and Alabama owes America an apology for fielding a candidate so repugnant, they couldn’t even bring themselves to show up and vote for him.

I hope the adults are in charge next time.

I agree about the ridiculous antiquated harassment accusations, fairy tales, and suspicious accounts that mostly fell apart.

But, Alabama rather thought Moore had baggage. He is a prickly trouble maker who had problems wherever he landed.

I thought him qualified to be a fine preacher, a religious zealot who enjoys correcting others. He would have been happy in a position as a preacher.

Defying the law was a problem, when he was a justice on the state supreme court, and got himself kicked off. People probably noticed. It was bizarre, actually, but Moore rather enjoyed being bizarre.

Wrong, but it clearly shows the evil character of the Democrat Party.

Chill!

I agree with you, I was only making a point to the dems that this victory is not “gloat-worthy”.

Let ‘em gloat. They earned it. It cost them Al Franken. Trump has moved on. Alabama should’ve listened to him in the first place. The important takeaway is to stay away from fringe candidates and not to make this mistake again. There is no such thing as a “safe” seat.

Moore hasn’t ever been a huge winner in his other statewide races.
He’s lost a few races during his career in various capacities in AL.

McConnell sabotaged Mo Brooks, and backed Strange. People of AL got pissed, dumped Strange. That left Moore. Who is, frankly, kinda nuts, and (in the past) creeped on teens. So pubbies stayed home. Meanwhile, dems dumped a zillion bucks in it and performed monster turnout.

THAT’S what happened.

Fault: 100% Turtle.

The military do not cause wars. Both politics and religions prevent a more peaceful world.

One of the splits in the GOP is between the Christian conservatives and the Establishment. The Establishment does not want to admit even to itself that it depends on the Christian conservatives for a winning margin, and will turn in an instant if they get near the levers of power.

I can’t remember Democrats ever gloating because a Republican defeated a Democrat.

Ditch McConnell and the rest of the Establishment RINOs seem to have gotten what they wanted. They’re one seat closer to giving away the Senate so they can have an excuse for not doing diddly.

And the politics of personal destruction won tonight.
Prediction: Emboldened by their victory, Democrats will try making personal, destructive, and horrible allegations against EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN. It worked, so why not keep doing it?

The template for 2018.

You get your info from Gloria Allred and the Washington Post.
