Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) has threatened to vote against the tax bill, putting the legislation in danger of being delayed past Christmas.
Rubio has told Senate leaders that he will vote against the bill unless the child tax credit is made more generous to help lower-income workers who pay payroll taxes and not regular income taxes.
Sen. Rubio has consistently communicated to the Senate tax negotiators that his vote on final passage would depend on whether the refundability of the Child Tax Credit was increased in a meaningful way, said a spokesperson for Rubio.
If Rubio votes against the bill, Republicans can only lose one other lawmaker if they hope to pass the final bill that emerges from a House-Senate conference. Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) previously voted against the Senate tax bill because it would add $1.5 billion to the deficit, and no Democrats support it.
Corker has not ruled out voting for the final conference report, though he suggested his concerns have not changed.

You take care of your children. I dont want to take care of your children except for primary education and the military to protect them from illegal aliens and invaders. Your children are YOUR responsibility.
All logic and Conservative principles went off the rails concerning the GOPe Tax Bill a long time ago. This bill already raises taxes for millions of middle class Americans. Now they want to use more of our money to shovel out goodies to Gibsmedats and Takers. And many here will ignore the poison and say, Thanks honey, its delicious.
Little Marco!
Conservatives pay for their own kids.
The Child Tax Credit is a direct expenditure from the treasury (other people’s money) to those who have kids.
Worse, it gave birth to a complete monstrosity called the EITC which pays people to have kids who have never paid a dime of income tax in their lives...directly from revenues collected from somebody else.
A last resort option is for the House to accept the Senate version and send it to the President for signature
How much does he want each family with kids to get..5 grand per kid LOL
I’m fine with increasing the tax credit provided there are mechanisms in the legislation that guarantee that no one who is in the U.S. illegally gets it or any other money from the government.
Are you fine increasing your own taxes, substantially even, to “pay” for this expanded credit?
If so, how much?
K Street wants this bill too bad. No way their poodle Little Marco will really vote against it.
“No way their poodle Little Marco will really vote against it.”
He won’t have to.
Republicans will give him everything he asks for.
Maybe he can go back to Cuba and run for el Presidente there,, cuz he’ll never be President here.
Exactly. It isnt a tax credit. It is welfare. It is also one of the biggest tax scam frauds in US history. Bill Clinton expanded EITC for the Takers, and during Barry Soetoros reign of terror, the IRS would not even check to see if illegals claims were fraudulent. Billions and billions went to scammers, and still do.
Hence, illegals claimed children they didnt have, even claiming nephews and nieces in Mexico.
But the GOPe will fold, and give Rubio more of our money. McCain is in Walter Reed - so I dont know if he can be counted on for another Yes vote.
Has anyone heard when Jones will be actually seated in the Senate?
And McCain will rise from his death bed to cast his final thumbs down to kill the bill. He hates Trump that much.
I wonder if Rush still thinks Little Marco is a “full-throated conservative?” That’s what Rush called Rubio during the primary season in 2016.
The only time Rubio has been a “full-throated” anything is when he hooked up with another dude at a foam party.
The GOP is dead.
Yep. This is beltway kabuki. GOP shoving all kinds of garbage into the tax bill and spending bill.
Rubio was calling for legislative amnesty of illegals back when they thought they could swing it.
He’s The Crying Game trannie.
Rubio, McCain, Flake, etc. all Trump haters. With the slim margin in the Senate, these a$$holes will make demands that could unravel the consensus. They hate Trump so much that they will not give him any kind of victory.
No question about it.
