After years of strong gains in states across the country, Republicans now fear they stand to lose hundreds of state legislative seats in next year’s midterm elections if there is a significant voter backlash against President Trump.

Any losses would come at the worst time: Just ahead of the redistricting process that begins with the 2020 census.

We also forget how razor thin Trump’s presidential election victory was. What, 80,000 or so votes in three states counted for the EV margin of victory. (Vote fraud is for another thread). Bottom line is the country is horribly split and given the GOPe habit of self destruction, Congress is likely lost in 2018. Gimmedats outnumber deplorables.

That said, when I see people arguing, cynically, that critics of Roy Moore should have purged their music and video/movie collections of all works featuring David Bowie, Chuck Berry, Led Zeppelin, the Who, R Kelly, and others, then we are in trouble.

I'm able to separate my musical tastes from politics. Glad I don't live in Alabama...really don't know how I would have voted, except there was no way I'll ever vote for a Democrat.

Nobody better try and touch my Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Dire Straits, Doobie Brothers, et al.

However, in 2018 they have 25 House seats up, Republicans have 8 seats. Dems have, minimum, 11 at risk, while Republicans have merely one.

Yes but we haven't seen the real tax bill yet. Notice that the Feds collected record tax revenue this quarter and they can't cut a single penny from the total budget.

- Pass the hearing protection act to eliminate restrictions on silencers
- Pass concealed carry reciprocity
- Fund the wall, for real
- Shrink the federal government
- Pass real immigration reform that shrinks the number of immigrants and puts
American workers first

Sadly none of these will ever see the Presidents desk.

I think you've captured the essence of the DemoRat party----they focus-group certain phrases, then insert the successful ones into any campaign...relevant or not.

I suggest Trump or Bannon have some hilarious comebacks ready---ad spots, editorial cartoons, for example.

Say something like: "Did he rape you before or after not paying his taxes?"

We must always remember that his campaign manager said Mondale lost when Ronald Reagan responded about being too old to run: "I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience."

Hung Jury but the majority was for acquittal. It is DC after all. However the Senate could have opened an ethics investigation like the one Mitch promised if Moore won.

except by the losers in the republican party, that in truth were obamas very good friends all along...

They don't care that they lied to people, used them and helped to ruin the country.
They're not even embarrassed by the slush fund(s) that they helped create using taxpayer funds.

No, if there's a backlash, it's going to be against the lying-do nothing republicans that have been treating Americans so badly.
So busy trying to undermine the President I helped to elect, that they won't even do what they were elected for.

When the time comes I'm not going to be voting for that guy they think they'll be putting in.

Pretty much. Other than filling the judiciary they GOP congress isn’t worth a warm bucket of horse piss. They should be very afraid and it’s their incompetence that has the base furious, not Trump.
