Fox News Host Slams GOP Support For Roy Moore: ‘I Hope The Guy Loses’

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld says he hopes Republican Roy Moore loses Tuesday’s special election in Alabama for a U.S. Senate seat.

“I hate team-sport politics, and right now this is team-sport politics,” he said on “The Five” on Monday. “The argument is: Moore is bad, but a Democrat is worse, and... it’s a shame, because it shouldn’t be. It doesn’t always have to be a team sport.”

He said President Donald Trump throwing his weight behind Moore is part of the “team sport” element of politics.

“Even though Trump is endorsing this guy, it’s because he has to, because it’s his team,” Gutfeld said. “And I have to say, you know, I hope the guy loses.”

He added:

“If you’re upset that I say that, that is not on me. That’s on the team-sport ideology that’s pernicious because the long-term consequences of a Moore is much worse than the initial loss that you will experience tomorrow. Trust me.”

I’ve noticed that Google, who are very left wing biased to begin with, but that they are purging a lot of info that is conservative in the last week or so.

I have not seen anyone else say this but I have really noticed the amount of their leads on stories have drastically dropped out any conservative viewpoints. Even the stories that used to be there.

I have to admit that I like Greg Gutfeld ... a lot. His dry satirical wit strikes a chord with me. But he's wrong on this issue. I do not believe he has done his homework (shame on you, Greg!). It sounds like he has simply accepted what is being spoken around him with regard to Moore's innocence or guilt (he's innocent, Greg!). The people of Alabama are not surrounded by liberal republicans, so they will elect Moore. I can only hope that when the accuser slips quickly and quietly out of the lime-light with no charges filed, Gutfeld second guesses himself and realizes he jumped the shark.

Matt Drudge has also joined the “Never-Moore” coalition.

Drudge started tip-toeing away from Conservatives in early 2016, when it become obvious that Trump might win the GOP nomination.

Two years later, and Matt Drudge has almost abandoned Conservatives.

That's a tragic and a significant loss.

Besides Rush Limbaugh and Hannity, there is almost no one with a national audience who still carries the Conservative Torch.

Many here at Free Republic would claim that Donald Trump is carrying that torch.

I disagree.

In my opinion, Trump has always been a center-right Democrat.

But, I voted for him in 2016, and will vote to reelect in 2020.

>> the MSM would fade

The MSM is largely Disney and Comcast. And until folks begin to accept this unfortunate fact, things won’t change.

Gutfield made an argument that the long term pain Republicans will feel defending Moore will outweigh losing a senate seat, possibly temporarily.

He may be right, but I don’t thinks so.

If Moore loses MSM will tout a Trump defeat.

If Moore wins, MSM resume the victim showcase and shop for prominent Republicans to call for Moore’s resignation. Franken would definitely be out.

But the Republican Party is in decline. They can never win another national election unless they become more Trumplike. So their calling for Moore’s resignation has been weakened.

Trump will be vindicated again.

I think Greg is paranoid and has skeletons in his own closet and is afraid of losing his job.

Hannity appears to be completely avoiding the Roy Moore issue. No mention of Moore on his show tonight unless I missed that few seconds.

I used to think Gutfield was humorous, but no more. Now he is just an arrogant LITTLE snot, literally.

If he gets “Lindsey Vonn”-ed in the near future, I’ll know for sure God has a sense of humor, LOL!

Trump is a better conservative than 99% of Republicans we have today. He’s done more for conservatism than anyone since Ronald Reagan and is outpacing Reagan.

routinely says stupid things that people wince.

I never understand the guy. Somebody thinks he's funny and clever so he gets lots of Fox time.

I can't imagine how he draws any ratings weren't it for the women on his show in cocktail dresses, lots of leg and cleavage.

If Justice Kennedy retires this summer, the loss of one vote in the Senate would be critical in confirming a replacement.

It isn’t about cheering for a team.

It isn’t about the Republican label.

It is about the Supreme Court.

Shocking is the number of Americans who are today finding it acceptable to throw in with mob justice, with seeing no police report, no court case filing, certainly no due process, no use for the Statute of Limitations, just on claims attributed to events decades and decades old that may never have happened and will never be proven given the time elapsed.

Throw in the noticeable absence of lawyers (forget Gloria) along side these gals, as well as no corroboration, evidence, witnesses.

Cannibal thinking is rising in this street justice trend. God forbid.

Re: “Trump is a better conservative than 99% of Republicans we have today.”

I think it’s more accurate to say that Trump is the most Conservative GOP candidate who had a real chance to win the White House.

I like GG too and I think he knows that RM will win with about 60% of the vote. And by taking this position he can claim to be ‘fair and balanced’ and not another political hack!

I ask one question that seems to be ignored: Didn’t these accusations (rolled back) happen 40+ years ago? And just why can they be used today? A man can change and live a good life. If we all can be held for every action that long ago, we all are guilty.

Moore would vote conservative.. so explain why he is less desirable than any democrat you can name.

They attack and demean conservatives and ignore every dirty and underhanded word or action from their own!
