“I’m not sold on this idea, but it does seem to me to have at least some strategic thinking behind it.”

What it reminds me of is when a person imagines a future conversation with another person:
“I’ll say this, then he’ll say that, then I’ll say this and then he’ll say that” (ad infinitum)
File under “What could possibly go wrong??”/Unintended Consequences.

But I do find a bit of sad, unintended humor in the underlying logic of “I’m going to really stick it to the liberals by giving more of my money to the government.”

Besides, political winds change as does Congressial makeup. Dems could undo it and call it “relief from the tax burden imposed on Americans by Republicans/Trump”. Or they could keep the money and enjoy funding the leftist agenda at both the local -AND- federal level.

More of their money to the government. It's probably going to hit me a little, but I expect it's going to hit them a lot.

I'd be willing to suffer a little if it makes them suffer a whole lot more.
