People have lost trust in pollsters, just as they have lost trust in the media and many institutions of government. I believe people lie to pollsters in greater numbers, and the polling error is larger the more localized one gets. I know I lie to pollsters when they call.
I think lying to pollsters finally caught on in the ‘14 midterms when NOBODY called us taking the Senate except the Des Moines Register - forget the lady’s name, she rocks - and I haven’t seen a publicized poll from them since.
