Silly. i am talking about passing laws and not how one governs. Non enforcement and purity in education, etc is not lawmaking. You are confused. I am writing about passing laws.

The only reason Obamacare passed is because the Dems had 60 senators at that time. It was filibuster proof. The republicans have only 52 senators. Most bills need 60 votes.

Reagan compromised ALL the time to get part of what he wanted.

Frankly, you are unrealistic. Governing is hard and difficult. Now that you are just discovering that fact of life, you should discover that part of something is better than nothing. Reagan said that all the time and you should learn that, too.

Re: “Reagan compromised ALL the time to get part of what he wanted.”

Would this be the same Ronald Reagan who publicly supported the 1986 Amnesty in exchange for workplace enforcement and more border security?

That worked out really well for Conservative Republicans. So well, in fact, that, today, Ronald Reagan could not be elected governor of California, or win the state of California in a presidential election.

Would this be the same Ronald Reagan who agreed to a tax increase in exchange for spending limits and a Social Security fix?

Inflation adjusted per capita spending has gone up every year since Reagan signed that compromise, and Social Security will be insolvent within 10 years.

Bottom Line - laws are completely useless if the administration in power does not enforce them, or if the Federal Judiciary invents new laws instead of enforcing old laws and the Constitution.

Re: “Governing is hard and difficult.”

That's ridiculous.

Obama governed flawlessly from the Left, using only Executive Orders, appointing only political soul mates to run the agencies, and maneuvering every legal problem to the courtroom of a politically friendly judge.
