If you have the stomach for it, I want you to watch one of the most outrageous and infuriating videos Ive ever seen. It shows the police shooting of Daniel Shaver in Mesa, Arizona. He was crawling on his hands and knees, crying, and begging police not to shoot him. An officer shot him anyway:
The Washington Posts account is decent, but you have to watch the video truly grasp the strangeness of the requests:
In fact, the Post actually sugarcoats the encounter. At one point an officer tells him do not put your hands down for any reason, even saying, If you think youre going to fall, you better fall on your face. Then he says, Crawl towards me. How he can crawl without putting his hands down, I dont know. As the sobbing man crawls, he reaches back towards his pants (perhaps to pull them up) and is immediately shot dead. He had no weapon. He had done nothing wrong. And now hes dead.
Essentially, what the police told an innocent, law-abiding, intoxicated American was this: Follow my highly-specific, very strange instructions or die. There was no need to make him crawl. The police were in command of the situation. At no point is there a visible weapon. I have seen soldiers deal with al Qaeda terrorists with more professionalism and poise. When a man is prone, his hands are visible, and your gun is trained upon him, he is in your power. At trial, the officer testified that he though the suspect was reaching for his gun, and that if he had a chance to do things over, hed make the same decision again. In other words, he presented the classic defense. He was afraid, so he fired.

Hopefully, this cop will go down.
Way down.
He is a disgrace to the vast majority of police out there who are defending us.
I hope there is a civil case brought against him and he suffers the rest of his life. POS.
You could hear the Murderous intent in the Cop’s voice, it was disgusting.
Don’t know how the jury got this so wrong.
Law is in the courtroom, justice in the alley.
The cop had some kind of frustrated Seal Team 6 fantasy (minus the Troublesome exercise requirement) and was clearly getting off on the situation.
In his life he has had some reason to feel powerless and this encounter acted like a drug for him.
He is a disgrace to the vast majority of police out there who are defending us.
And every Cop in this murderer’s Precint and City is Standing Behind Him for this cowardly murder of an innocent man.
About that “Vast Majority”, they have NOT existed in 40 years. This thug and his buddies are the Vast Majority.
Family of military and LEOs...all shocked that monster was set free. He should not be in law enforcement. He should be in prison.
It was Mesa, AZ, a Mormon town. Probably raised from infancy to believe the cop is always right.
Hopefully, every jury member whom voted to acquit will one day experience the same fate as Mr. Shaver.
Ex-officer needs life in prison.
Unfortunately, this is what the public sees. This mentally twisted clown officer is from bizarro world. Yes, I know there are some bad police, but by far, most police officers are good people with good intentions.
The cop got off on murder 2, and was clearly guilty.
I would not vote to convict any family members of the victim who might later exact some Earthly justice.
Really?
So why aren’t his fellow cops “explaining” to him why he going to resign?
You are not a good cop if you tolerate bad cops.
“The curious thing surrounding this story is its lack of prominence in the news cycle. Shaver was murdered and it was captured on video and none of it adds up as to why he was acquitted and yet the media silence does add up: Shaver was white. It would be too honest to tell this story because it exposes a lot of truths about law enforcement, gun deaths, and race. This is a situation wherein no riots are occurring as a byproduct of Shavers death, theres no national mourning, CNN is not running anything and the Washington Post abstained from this one, the conversation doesnt exist and yet the importance of this story is extremely profound as it relates to race in America in 2017.”
I showed the video to my wife yesterday and she cried.....it upset me tremendously....that boy did nothing wrong ...the cops with this murderer should have stopped him when they saw the silly demands he was making the guy do.
Unfortunately there are bad cops who, like this policeman took “justice” into his own hands. What he did only made the millions of GOOD cops have to carry that burden of suspicion with them for the rest of their careers. He needed to be given a tougher sentence.
FReeper Robert DeLong does.
