The recognition by the US of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is an obstacle to a fair and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians based on a negotiated two-state solution, the Swiss government said.
Reacting to US President Donald Trumps announcement on Wednesday, the Swiss foreign office said any solution in the Middle East must be based on a comprehensive negotiated agreement on the final status of Jerusalem that respects the rights and aspirations of all interested parties.
Switzerland does not recognize the authority of Israel beyond the 1967 borders and will work towards the establishment of a viable, contiguous and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as capital and based on the 1967 borders, the Swiss government said.

With comments like that they're taking sides. Sounds like they're appeasing their future rulers. They'll have to change the cross in the flag to a crescent.
Swiss cheese eating surrender monkeys.
Has not moving our embassy to Jerusalem brought us peace or even closer to peace?
We didn't place our embassy in Jerusalem for the past 69 years - since Israel officially designated it the capital of the newly established nation.
Has that worked?
We didn't place it there for the past 22 years - since the "Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act of 1995" made it official U.S. policy that Jerusalem should be recognized as the capital of the Israel. (Which additionally mandated that a U.S. Embassy be completed there by 1999.)
Has that worked?
The real obstacle(s) to peace has/have nothing to do with whether or not we move our embassy to Jerusalem. Only a fool or a liar would claim otherwise!
That ‘hum’ in the earth is Arafat spinning in his grave.
I don’t find Congress to blame either. The article is title Swiss blame Trump. I am just pointing out if one doesn’t like the policy, don’t blame Trump.
I like the policy and like how trump has been up front on his doing what the law that Congress passed says.
No.
The obstacles to Peace are the Arabs of Gaza and the West Bank. Their only goal is destroy Israel and slaughter the Jews and they negotiate accordingly.
It is about time they started losing things for not making peace. Losing the entirety of Jerusalem is a good start.
Ah, the Swiss with their ancestral Nazi proclivities. I could have predicted they would be unhappy with JEWS making decisions for themselves. Israel belongs to its own citizens and they have the right to call any city in their borders their capital. Do not need the “permission” of any other country. Would Germany or Japan or Zimbabwe raise a fuss over us declaring Washington, D.C. our capital? Of course not. But when it’s the JEWS...well then.
The 1967 borders were internationally recognized. They put a green line there.
And if the Arabs had respected that, they'd already have HAD their "two state solution."
By what authority?
I mean, what authority exists in the world with the power to do that?
What you say corroborates my discoveries the several times I visited Switzerland.
So, arguably at least, what we see with today’s announcement of Swiss opposition to Jerusalem being the Capitol of Israel is just the Swiss being the Swiss.
Dear Swiss Government, thank you for telling Trump that he did the right thing. Now, your cheese needs to be made....
I have a friend who has a theory that all of Europe hates the Jews because the existence of living Jews is an ongoing reminder of their guilty consciences for their sad and pathetic behavior with regard to the holocaust. If so, the same thinking should apply to Roosevelt-loving democrats.
That’s why they all want to erase real history and replace it with retro-active lies - so they can ignore reality without looking as stoooopid as they are.
Yeah, they were 'turning their lives around' and wanted to be doctors and find a cure for cancer... Lowlifes of the world are sooooooooo similar. Can we assume Palies will be doing 'fake hate crimes' next?
No, because those “borders” are indefensible, especially these days. The Arabs and Muslims want a one-Caliphate solution.
