The 37 y.o. man also “broke windows, lights, and security cameras by smashing them with a machete” during his vandalism.
Even then, the long prison sentence still seems too harsh.
This could have been resolved with a hefty fine and significant community service hours.

Even 1 to 5 would seem harsh but fair. Fifteen is a travesty. America has a gulag in it, apparently.
