The Sand bar at the mouth of the Connecticut River (which is why there’s not a major city there) is still there. Long Island Sound was a lake, Hudson Canyon (off the coast in the Atlantic) was the mouth of an prehistoric Hudson River.

Long Island Sound was a lake, Hudson Canyon (off the coast in the Atlantic) was the mouth of an prehistoric Hudson River.And the land that now makes up Central Park (the one in NYC) was once covered by a glacier 2,000 feet thick.
Just found that out recently.
