Forecast is for winds to pick up bigly tonight and last through Friday. Schools closed here in Thousand Oaks, but no evacuations that I know of yet.
Back in 2003 when I worked in T.O., we lived in Simi Valley. A big fire threatened Simi, and we were just getting in the car to evacuate when they cancelled the order. Our house backed on to the Reagan Library grounds, and the Library was between us and the fire; it had just reached Tierra Rejada.
When it reached that point, the sky became black with helicopters flying over to dump water. We feel that our location helped us, since the Library and its records, etc., were in danger. I’ve been frightened a lot over the years, but the fire thing... terrifying.
