Right, you would think they do not care. But they are vehement in their hatred of religion.

Well assuming that God does not exist, it could happen in the same manner that the Left hates “White Privilege”.
If you read Richard Dawkin’s book, “the God Delusion”, he denounces the God of the Old Testament as evil. He then says that there is no evidence for his existence. This is the contradiction of the new atheism - Proclaiming hatred for God, and, at the same time, denying that he exists.
Atheists think about God more than most “Christians.” More so than they would ever care to admit.
The largest organized atheist “religion” would be Buddhism. Their quest for enlightenment is not a relationship, it is a concept.
I wonder if the modern atheist would term Buddhism as a religion... and that would be mistakenly so, but knee-jerk reactionism has a profound and broad horizon.
