Solomon built it about 950 BC.

It was enlarged by Herod in the time of Christ.

The Muslims built the Dome of the Rock about 1200 AD as a sign of their dominion over Jerusalem, the Jews and the Christians, during the Crusades.

So, the Jews had their Temple there over 2,000 years before Islam planted their flag there.

Erdogen is throwing a hissy fit over this. He’s calling a meeting with Islamic leaders and threatening to sever ties with Israel. He must think Israel is still under Ottoman rule.
