-> There you go again trolling me. We don’t know what investigations are ongoing since the DOJ cannot confirm or deny their existence.

There you go changing the subject again. I specifically mentioned Special Counsels, as did the source you cited that I was responding to, so the context was perfectly clear until you tried to change it. Care to respond again to my (and the President’s!) accusation of hypocrisy in the context of the appointment of Special Counsels?

-> Collusion is not a crime. It never was and still is not. This is all manufactured by the Obama administration and Deep State. They want to overturn an election. The real scandal is that we had a President using the resources of the intelligence community to attack and discredit a political opponent. It attacks the very foundation of our Republic. Where is the outrage from the Reps? It is not there save for a few people. The GOPe is not going to protect Trump and prefer to let him twist slowly in the wind.

-> My thoughts exactly. And the travesty of it all is they got a Special Prosecutor, but Sessions and the DoJ keep blocking any request for another one to investigate the previous admin and Clinton’s well-known crimes such as destroying evidence.

And it MUST be an independent counsel, because many in the DoJ would likely be implicated, starting with the top FBI agent on Mueller’s team that led the supposed Hillary investigation.

To muddy up the water around the Mueller investigation a bit, here's an excellent article by James Rosen - lots of "spicy" details regarding FBI agent Peter Strzok. The more that comes out, the more it appears he has been a key pro-Hilly, anti-Trump figure in the FBI on several investigations. Adds fuel to the fire to take another look at Hilly & her emails/private server situation & the FBI involvement in the anti-Trump dossier.

Just a few snippets from the article (you should read the whole thing):

He participated in the FBI's fateful interview with Hillary Clinton on July 2, 2016 – just days before then-FBI Director James Comey announced he was declining to recommend prosecution of Mrs. Clinton in connection with her use, as secretary of state, of a private email server.

House investigators told Fox News they have long regarded Strzok as a key figure in the chain of events when the bureau, in 2016, received the infamous anti-Trump "dossier" and launched a counterintelligence investigation into Russian meddling in the election that ultimately came to encompass FISA surveillance of a Trump campaign associate.

Strzok himself briefed the committee on Dec. 5, 2016, the sources said, but within months of that session House Intelligence Committee investigators were contacted by an informant suggesting that there was “documentary evidence” that Strzok was purportedly obstructing the House probe into the dossier.

Sources close to the various investigations agreed the discovery of Strzok’s texts raised important questions about his work on the Clinton email case, the Trump-Russia probe, and the dossier matter. A top House investigator asked: “If Mueller knew about the texts, what did he know about the dossier?”

Mueller aide fired for anti-Trump texts now facing review for role in Clinton email probe

over the years I have followed here OT never seems to be an issue to most...

Many of the OT (Seemingly) is often very intertwined to political issues.

College football is big business... and a good share of non ethical/corruption present

NFL - well - if we are not in a coma we understand the subsidizes, country trashing owner and some very nasty players when it comes to racism, patriotism, capitalism

Anything else is cool. I personally LIKE to know more about the faceless screen names here.. their interests, passions, as well as their political observations.

Another extremely important point on that story is that the agent was in charge of what was known as “the skinny team” that was apparently a select group of cover up experts, who were the only ones allowed to investigate anything Hillary at the FBI.

Stop pretending the football players are college students, and no requirement to go to college classes.

Stop pretending that hasn’t been the case for the past 100 years or so. Nothing new under the sun here.

Yup! I think Strzok is the “lynch pin” to a lot of corruption in the FBI & the pin just got pulled.

Certainly if I was Flynn I'd be crowing and talking about this EVERYWHERE, EVERYDAY. I would go on any and every show, blog, podcast, etc., etc. and tell EVERYONE how I was being railroaded for political reasons, and how using national intelligence to "get" political advantage was poison to the country and treason. Only a sniper could take me out.

The problem is that Flynn and to some extent his son, were engaged in these various dealings with Turkey and other countries lobbying for their interests. The Inside the Beltway crowd is populated by these consulting firms that use access to attract foreign money. Retired generals, admirals, diplomats, congressmen, etc. are representing foreign countries. Even Kissinger acted on behalf of China.

No doubt Flynn may have some skeletons in his closet or vulnerabilities to prosecution that cause him to remain silent. And then there are the tremendous legal costs that can literally bankrupt you. His statement speaks volumes:

After over 33 years of military service to our country, including nearly five years in combat away from my family, and then my decision to continue to serve the United States, it has been extraordinarily painful to endure these many months of false accusations of “treason” and other outrageous acts. Such false accusations are contrary to everything I have ever done and stood for. But I recognize that the actions I acknowledged in court today were wrong, and, through my faith in God, I am working to set things right. My guilty plea and agreement to cooperate with the Special Counsel's Office reflect a decision I made in the best interests of my family and of our country. I accept full responsibility for my actions.

I doubt Flynn will do any prison time. And he will get a pardon from Trump before he leaves office. It is important to note that Flynn was interviewed by the FBI long before Mueller arrived on the scene. Since the FBI had the recordings of Flynn's conversations with the Russians prior to his interview, it was an easy matter to catch him in a lie, especially with no counsel present.

So, is there some kind of stratergery going on behind the scenes the rest of us are not privy to? That is what makes me doubt the Mueller works for Trump behind the scenes idea. The stakes are very high for these people.

I don't subscribe to the theory that Mueller is working with Trump given the composition of his proprietorial staff. And the revelations about Peter Strzok and Lisa Page are truly disturbing. It brings into clear focus the obvious partisanship of the investigators not only into the Russian collusion case, but Hillary's emails and Benghazi. Strzok (and McCabe) was a lead investigator, not some underling. He participated in the interview of Hillary on the email scandal. I wonder how much he was involved in the granting of immunizations and the decision to allow Cheryl Mills to act as Hillary's lawyer during the FBI interview.

Looks like Feinstein sees a case for obstruction of justice based on the increasing frequency of tweets from the president!

Flynn was the head of DIA, which covertly and overtly, "spies" on our adversaries. He is no different than the head of the CIA or NSA.

I am just trying to understand what your point is and how it relates to the investigation and his guilty plea. It should be noted that there are legal restrictions on what the former heads of these agencies can do after they leave their agencies. It involves travel, contacts with certain countries, etc.

As far as Flynn's loyalty to the US, I have every confidence that he would never do anything to jeopardize this country. Until proven otherwise, I assume he is a patriot who has served his country well.

Well I am just as troubled as you, AB.

There is more to Flynn than we know. The spy thing....could be.

Because I get so disgusted when I listen to the news and hear about this Russian collusion, the millions of dollars being spent that could house the homeless.

I got an idea for what Trump should do, and could do very well.

Beg me and maybe I will delineate.

And it WILL work.

Great question! My guess is that he and McCabe (and even Comey) are implicated in that. If we could get a Special Counsel appointed, justice might finally be served to the whole lot.

Special counsels/prosecutors are fraught with dangers. The Robert Fiske/Ken Starr investigation lasted over four years.

January 1994 - Attorney General Janet Reno appoints Robert Fiske Jr. as the independent counsel in charge of investigating financial irregularities in the dealings of the Whitewater property company. The Clintons, and their business partners, James and Susan McDougal, are implicated.

August 1994 - Fiske is replaced by the more conservative Kenneth Starr as the independent counsel investigating the Whitewater scandal.

January 16, 1998- Janet Reno, the US Attorney General, approves the Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth Starr's request for an expansion of the inquiry to include the Clinton-Lewinsky affair.

September 9, 1998 -- Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr releases his report to Congress. It has 11 possible grounds for impeachment. The House votes to make the 445-page report public.

Since rodguy deals heavily in conspiracies, my guess is he saying that if Leanne was a Trojan horse designed to be charged and proven guilty on some sort of conspiracy with the Russians.

My thoughts as to why he was lying, when talking to the Russians itself isn’t a crime, is that he was concerned about the mainstream media narrative and drumbeat about Russia at the time, and knew it would be leaked if he admitted to it.

FYI there are actually reports out there now that Comey testifies behind closed doors to Congress that the FBI had already decided NOT to charge Flynn. But since that time, Mueller was appointed, and they decided to file the charge.

Guesses are this this was to keep his son from being charged on certain things, or higher charges against Flynn for his testimony against Trump or his family, but exactly what those other charges may have been is still unknown, or if this is going to be it.

No doubt, but if the DoJ is as rotten as it appears, it simply cannot be trusted to correct itself, and the process will certainly take years.
