“Trump has to fire Mueller. He just has to. We’re witnessing a coup right now. Trump jas to fight back.”

If Trump fires Mueller now he risks impeachment with the RINO Republicans and the Democrats combining to charge and impeach him for obstruction of justice. It would be the perfect excuse for Ryan and the anti-Trumpers in Congress to come forward and state they had lost confidence in the President and were going to do the right thing for the nation by removing him.

His lawyer’s response today was very measured and appropriate stating he believed Mueller was moving toward wrapping up the investigation.

The appropriate counterattack for Trump is to have his legal team express concern about the leaks from Mueller’s team to Mueller in a formal letter to Meuller and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is responsible for overseeing Mueller. The letter should express concern that the leaks are illegal, they jeopardize the rights of citizens being interviewed and investigated, and they have reached the point where they are negatively impacting the economy (mention today’s stock market volatility when the leak was reported). Ask Meuller and Rosenstein to investigate and stop the leaks in the interest of a fair and impartial investigation. The leaks are harmful to the investigation and detrimental to the governance of the country. Leakers are committing a crime and if they are members of the special counsel’s team, they indicate a lack of integrity and impartiality by some members of the special counsel’s team.

Such a letter puts the monkey on Mueller’s back and puts Mueller on notice. Trump can then hold the letter and make it public at a future date when it is to his advantage. In fact at that future date Trump can make the letter public, note that Mueller has not taken action to stop the leaking, and request publicly the judge overseeing the trial and Attorney General Sessions begin an investigation of the leaks.

Unfortunately this will be a long drawn out process. While firing Mueller can be justified in a normal world where the president can count on the support of his party in Congress, the fallout on a president who doesn’t have that support could be devastating. Trump does have the power to set traps, which will have the effect of creating a perception in the public Mueller has been acting in bad faith and without integrity.

Doesn’t have to be...Sessions could un-recuse himself and fire Mueller. Why doesn’t he? /rhet

All the chips are in the pot regardless.Trump has nothing to lose if what you’re saying is true.

Trump could sell it to America. It’s possible the public sides with him.
