Yeah... they did the same thing to Scooter Libby... They didn't get him for anything illegal, just lying to the investigators.... That kind of deal stinks too high heaven...
IIRC Scooter Libbey didn't even lie if the definition of a lie is to "attempt to decieve". Rather he remembered some event as happening differently from the way a TV Talk Show person (Tim Russert?) remembered it. It might have been about the dates certain things happened.
One of my biggest disappointments then was when W commuted Scooter Libbey's sentence but did not grant him a pardon. Of course later I realized that W was not on our side. What looked like weakness in not standing up to attacks on him was probably his not wanting to upset the "in" crowd, which he later joined.
