Yep, a lot. Im in a relatively high income tax state (Maryland) and a high property tax county (Howard) so Im going to take a hit. But Im for elimination of the SALT deduction as that will be best for the economy and nation as a whole. Well live and make adjustments.

Virginia has personal property tax, income tax and sales tax so no individual tax seems high but, when you combine them... Of course, that’s not even counting excise taxes such as prepared foods, tobacco, hotels, gasoline, telephone and who knows what else they’ve tucked away.

Maryland had a millionaires tax for a few years. The state took in a smaller amount of state income tax the following year. They would not publish the number of returns filed by millionaires the year before and the year after the law went into effect.
There may have been a lot of millionaires who found that living in Florida for 6 months and one day was very nice.
