The rats are looking for a sacrifice so they can use that to claim they have the moral high ground. Then they plan to use that against President Trump because trolls came out of the woodwork before the election and made allegations against him.

Nail on the head. That's what I believe too. They believe they have a shot at impeaching or forcing a resignation from Trump after 2018, and will use Conyers and Franken as examples that they are being fair and unbiased.

FWIW I think that is why the rats are also going after slick willy now.

He held the office of the president, therefore on an "equal plane" for their arguments.

He is beyond being useful to them anymore.

He already politically is yesterday's news with his policies and influence being fully maxed out by now.
