During an advanced screening of his new movie, the celebrated black actor Denzel Washington was asked by the Grio whether blacks, in particular, can "truly makes change as things are right now."
With no hesitation, Washington stated:
It starts in the home[.] ... If the father is not in the home the boy will find a father in the streets. I saw it in my generation and every generation before me, and every one since. If the streets raise you, then the judge becomes your mother and prison becomes your home.
Speaking specifically about the American prison complex to the New York Daily News, Mr. Washington repeated his assertions:
It starts with how you raise your children. If a young man doesn't have a father figure, he'll go find a father figure. So you know I can't blame the system…It's unfortunate that we make such easy work for them.
This is nothing new for the two-time Oscar-winner. Washington made similar comments in a GQ interview in 2012. When asked what he would say to African-American readers of GQ, Washington responded:
Take responsibility. One of the things that saddens me the most about my people is fathers that don't take care of their sons and daughters. And you can't blame that on The Man or getting frisked. Take responsibility. Look in the mirror and say, "What can I do better?" There is opportunity; you can make it. ... Keep the body in tune – it's your temple. All things in moderation. Continue to search. That's the best part of life for me – continue to try to be the best man.

He can show courage because his skin color places him beyond criticism.
When 3% of the population (young black males) is responsible for 55% of all crime, there is a problem.
news to moms who have raised successful kids without the help of the dads
The astonishing hypocrisy of the Delusional Lying Left continues to enable the basic dysfunction of black culture.
God bless Denzel for telling it like it is. Blacks need to face their issues and abandon this Lying Leftist “racist” enabling crap.
some families shouldn’t be preserved
I work in publishing and received an email from his assistant one day saying, “Denzel wants to talk to you.” He was working on a foreword for a book. He called personally to ask that we use a different Bible translation (he wanted the KJV)than the one that was used to go along with his Foreword. I was impressed.
His message here is remarkable in the amount of inoffensive truth packed in.

Unless and until the Black community grabs this message and takes it to heart their very real struggles will assuredly continue and even grow worse as in fact they have over the last 50 years. It has been 50 since the government subsidized the destruction of the Black family. They, and we, have been reaping the tragic consequences ever since, and things are getting even more violent.
Wait until April Ryan and the rest of that CNN herd of whiners hears this. Oh, my...
Denzel just courageously announced, “Game Over”, to the communist plantation who are reeking havoc in the streets and on the campuses of America and in the elite media.
Re: He can show courage because his skin color places him beyond criticism.
Tell that to Clarence Thomas
I’m going to go ahead and assume you didn’t have to raise your kids in the same type of environments Denzel was referencing. Which is a good thing, but you shouldn’t take his argument as a personal rebuke.
Most interesting! Thank you for that.
God bless Denzel Washington!
Given your post, I'd recommend watching him in "The Book of Eli". It's a post-apocalyptic movie that has to be watched to the end to get the full impact of the story. It has a pretty remarkable "twist" that will stay with you.

An interesting aside:
If you search GOOGLE for “famous black actors”, you get pictures returned of famous black actors EXCEPT for Denzel Washington.
FUNNY, My Google Search yielded Denzel Washington’s picture on top of the list.
Wrong, anyone can show courage. Denzel has courage that most Hollywood creatures, both Black and white lack.
Denzel also has a born again Christian faith that most lack.
Ramon J Israel, his most recent movie is great... just like all his other movies ... except I never got Training Days.
