The top two Democrats in Congress canceled a meeting with President Trump slated for later Tuesday, saying they didnt see him as a viable partner in trying to strike an end-of-year spending deal.
The stunning move attempts to further sideline Mr. Trump and portray him as at odds with his partys own leadership in Congress.
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced their decision to skip the meeting hours after Mr. Trump said he doubted they could reach a deal on an end-of-year spending bill.

No, they're not.
The GOP's #1 priority is getting rid of Trump. If they have to pass the Dems' budget and make Trump veto it, they certainly will.
I like it.
Stunning move? It’s nothing more than their usual defiant refusal to negotiate with a Republican President.
Cool! Shut that sucker down, and keep it shut down.
Say it loud!
.
No deal on the end of the current continuing resolution, govt ‘shuts down’ as they call it. I think is the deadline is Dec. 8.
For the record, Trump says they want illegals to get carte blanche and he doesn’t see a deal so Chuck & Nancy go to Mitch and Paul. Says a lot doesn’t it?
The GOP’s #1 priority is getting rid of Trump.

Absolutely true. Beyond question at this point. They want to expel the duly elected “outsider” that We The People chose to be our president.
The GOP has no respect for its voters. They only want our money and votes, not our principles and value.
We will primary these crooks.
More stupidity on Pelosi and Chuckie Cheese..
After Trump gets through with them, they will be hurting worse than Pocohantas.
But if the government shuts down, we are going to have to pay people billions of dollars to construct walls to block views on scenic highways again.
The parts of the Federal gov't that are "essential" under Trump aren't the parts that were "essential" under Obama!
“But wait. Are McConnell and Ryan and the establishment Republicans so stupid that they will take ownership of the Shutdown away from the Democrats?”
Does stealing defeat from the jaws of victory mean anything?
I like the idea of no retro pay if there is a shutdown. Good payback for all the government rats in Virginia who turned the state into California east.
Actually, if the non-essential services are shut down, then fine by me.
I am sure that Newt will be there to coach our President if things do shut down....Surely Newt will help him navigate this....having been successful himself in this area.
It would be a GREAT opportunity for Trump to point out what is non-essential.
If non-essential, then it gets cut.
Bad move, Dims: THIS TIME you are facing a President who will call you on your BULLZHIT......
You idiots may be the first people in History killed by Tweet overdose....
Please please don’t throw us in that briar patch.
Thanks!
Why? Libs don't care if Dems shutdown the government (it's always for a "good cause"). Dems were openly touting a shutdown early in Trumps administration.
What Trump needs to do, in case of a shutdown, is the opposite of 0. Keep all the parks open and stop funding PBS/NPR and all that.
A shutdown would be dangerous for Chuck and Nancy. Just imagine if Trump could manage a shutdown WITHOUT closing parks and inconveniencing people. He could show how unnecessary most federal employees are. It may not be possible for months or years. But if the government could run smooth for days or weeks with 80% of the employees staying home, that would be a bigger statement than Obama putting up blockades to keep people off sidewalks on day-one to show that government employees are necessary.
And just imaging the exploding heads if Trump decided that it was not PAID time off for the employees who weren’t allowed to work because Chuck and Nancy shut down the government.
Boiled cabbage and urine
