Arrest Of Lucian Wintrich, Chaos At UConn Draw National Attentionhttps://t.co/ZwQTQ0BVIN— Mike Cernovich 🇺🇸 (@Cernovich) November 29, 2017
Conservative author and commentator Ann Coulter was among the first to voice her support for Wintrich, who was charged with breach of peace after police say a woman removed paperwork from the lecturn where Wintrich was speaking and he followed her into the audience, where an altercation took place. Others, like Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro, criticized Wintrich, the White House correspondent for pro-Trump website Gateway Pundit.
No one was injured and Wintrich was the only one charged in connection with the incident, though Coulter said on Twitter she thought the woman should be held responsible as well.
Lucian Wintrich, White House Correspondent For Gateway Pundit, Arrested After Altercation At UConn Talk The sheet of paper stolen from @lucianwintrich was obviously his speech, said Coulter, a conservative author and media personality. This is like calling a $100 bill a sheet of paper. She should be prosecuted.
Campus police charged Wintrich, 29, with breach of peace and are continuing their investigation and reviewing videos to determine whether anyone elses behavior warrants charges, according to UConn spokesperson Stephanie Reitz.
