I'll get slammed for this but sometimes I feel that people go into foster care as their line of work..a job..which to me, goes against what foster care should be...

kind adults taking in the forgotten and mistreated children of the world OUT OF LOVE, not a paycheck.....

I have to wonder about all these fundraisers popping up to raise money for foster children to buy clothes...

excuse, me don't the adults get money to pay for the foster children?

I agree, but with the state cycles kids around it’s impossible to really create a real family. People who really care about the kids tend to burn out and quit when they realize what the system is and people who like the money stick around. Even worse people who abuse children are seldom removed since it’s so hard to find foster parents. I have several friends who formerly worked in the field(placement, not foster parenting) and they told me they were instructed not to report abuse.

That’s all well and good until you get a really screwed up kid. There’s nothing you can do to fix kid that’s been abused, was a drug baby, etc.

It's a whole lot easier to "love forgotten and mistreated children" in principle than in practice.

A person can make more money, less stress, better hours, at Mickey D than as a foster parent. A large percentage now are kinship foster parents who take in their own family. Once the state takes a child into custody they are in the foster care system. Even if it is your own offspring's children in custody you must become a state certified FP to get them. It can take up to a year before an check is seen and the checks are about enough to cover cost. Cost??? Yeah. Food, clothes, driving to places to get them help.

The certification is an ongoing task. You have to attend classes listening to Liberal B.S. for hours on end and "Village" propaganda. You have to open your home to the state. You have to pass a FBI check. You have to give them a biography of your entire life and your beliefs. You'll likely get to know the cops because many times parents call in so as to try and get the kids moved. The Foster Care Program puts the welfare of the kids last and the kids mother first.

A couple decades ago if a child was taken out of the parents home into protective custody they often tried to locate stable family members to take them in and more often than not adopt them. Now their goal is reunification for any offenses short of killing a child. The state, the parents, and the courts in cases of kinship FP's will dangle the kids over them. The kids need stability and most of all love. This system as it stands doesn't allow it.
