Well that is a crappy way to treat one’s own children, by knowingly turning them into debt slaves.
The loving thing is pay 20% or 30% down on another house and at 18 let them work to pay it off. And keep you the parents far away from the money, because you would deceive your children, and become rent seekers and debt slaves to your own children.
With parents like you, who needs enemies. Time will tell how they treat you in your elder age.

Nice if you can afford to buy your children homes! My 18 year old has the choice. Go to college and live rent free or pay rent. She wants to work and forgo school so she is paying rent. About 1/8th of what an apartment would cost, and I’m putting the cash in a secret savings account for her which she doesn’t know about. But she says she wants to be an adult and do as she pleases. I’m probably being too lenient on her.
