I just thought I'd point that out.
I suppose our kids are counted among those “on the streets” since they weren’t “in the system”, but I think they were better off.
I think the foster care system is a horror show. I think monitored orphanages should be brought back into play, just like in the old days, for kids without functional families and also for kids whose parents need to leave them so they can get back on their feet.
The current system is supposed to replace the orphanage system, and IMHO does a terrible job.
Have experienced the evils of the system first hand as a social worker rewarded a foster family with a sib group of three, complete with state and federal bennies instead of a family who would love and care for them.
No, I can’t say that i have noticed, so that program seems to be of rather limited success.
Nevertheless, in my insanity, I’ll leave it to you to defend the guy who wants to rewrite the societal doctrines of “family.”

That may not be entirely insane, but it is misplaced, and self-serving. I said nothing about "family" nor was defending something anyone else said about it.
